Ashe County 4-H is excited to announce that the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant will continue through the 2016-2017 school year with decreased funding. A limited number of 4-H LEADS Afterschool slots will be available at each site for Kindergarten - 8th grade.

Slots Will Be Filled On A First Come First Serve Basis
Children will not be considered enrolled in the program until the enrollment packet is complete. Parents should come to registration prepared to complete this information (copy of children’s immunization records, doctors phone numbers (dentist, family doctor), proof of insurance). 4-H LEADS Afterschool participants will be required to attend 3-4 days per week to maintain their slot (two of the 3-4 days attended must be tutoring which is held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday).
The current Afterschool monthly cost of care in North Carolina ranges between $325.00 (three star program) and $359.00 (five star program) per child. Beginning with the 2016-2017 school year we will be charging $40.00 per month per child in lieu of the $325.00/$359.00 per month To receive services at the rate of $40.00 per month parents must complete a 4-H Scholarship Application at enrollment.
2016-2017 4-H LEADS Afterschool Fees will be paid monthly. Parents will receive a bill monthly from the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Ashe County Center. $40.00 per month will be billed for the previous month regardless of days attended. Parents are required to mail the payment (check or money order only) or pay at the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Ashe County Center, 134 Government Circle, Suite 202, Jefferson, NC 28640 (physical and mailing address) by the 10th of the month. Scholarships may be available.
Ashe County Department of Social Services Child Care Assistance has recently made us aware of funds that may assist qualifying parents with fee assistance for after school care. If you, as a parent, are working or enrolled in school during after school hours you may apply for assistance with Ashe County Department of Social Services Child Care Assistance at the Ashe County Courthouse (150 Government Circle, Suite 1300, Jefferson, NC). Appointments must be made by calling (336) 846-5644. Remember...children must be enrolled in the 4-H Afterschool program before attending.
2016-2017 4-H LEADS Opportunities
Available To Enrolled Participants:
Beginning First Day of School:
4-H Afterschool Program—school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. (except on days school is dismissed due to inclement weather then the program will close at 4:00 p.m.)
Beginning September 6, 2016:
4-H Homework Club—during 4-H Afterschool hours Monday—Friday - Participants will receive 45 minutes of homework assistance.
Beginning October 1, 2016:
4-H Tutor Club—during 4-H Afterschool hours Monday, Tuesday and Thursday - Participants will have the opportunity to be involved in hands-on tutoring with certified classroom teachers.
2016-2017 4-H LEADS Program will not be offering 4-H LEADS Beforeschool Program (delay days),
4-H LEADS Full Day Program or 4-H LEADS Transportation.
